"Sędzia Jon Moss rozmawiał z delegatem Manchesteru United, który powiedział, że na stadionie doszło do pewnego incydentu, w którym uczestniczą służby bezpieczeństwa i mecz nie może dojść do skutku" - relacjonował Geoff Shreeves, korespondent Sky Sports z Manchesteru.
Niedzielny mecz był ważny w kontekście walki o udział w Lidze Mistrzów - jeśli Manchester City straciłby punkty ze Swansea, a Czerwone Diabły wygrałyby z Bournemouth, to piłkarze Louisa van Gaala zajęliby czwarte miejsce.
Wciąż nie wiadomo czy zagrożenie zamachem było realne. Po znalezieniu podejrzanego pakunku w północno-zachodniej części Old Trafford, najpierw zarządzono 45 minut przerwy, ale ostatecznie mecz został odwołany i przeprowadzono szybką ewakuacje.
Jeszcze nie ustalono kiedy mecz będzie mógł się odbyć, ponieważ 21 maja Manchester gra z Crystal Palace na Wembley w finale Pucharu Anglii.
